Introduction
Petite Amélie, a French-Dutch children’s furniture and lifestyle brand celebrated for its timeless design and craftsmanship, sought to expand into the Korean market after establishing strong recognition across Europe. However, Korea’s highly competitive and insular e-commerce landscape led the brand to opt for a more localised, insight-driven market strategy.
To overcome these barriers, expand k partnered with Petite Amélie to design and execute a comprehensive market entry and e-commerce activation programme. The initiative encompassed legal certification, brand localisation, marketplace setup, and digital performance marketing, with the shared goal of validating market potential, building sustainable operations, and laying the groundwork for long-term growth in Korea.
Challenges & Objectives
In order for Petite Amélie to set itself in the Korean market, the brand had to tackle multiple layers of compliance issues. Petite Amélie had to live up to local consumer expectations which diverged sharply from European norms, while at the same time match strict product regulations of the market. The brand needed to secure certification, establish trust among Korean parents unfamiliar with the brand, and localise its digital identity to connect with local audiences.
The project aimed to ensure regulatory compliance, develop a consistent and culturally relevant brand identity, and build a high-performing digital commerce presence - transforming Petite Amélie’s European success into a sustainable growth model tailored for Korea.
Activities
expand k began by managing all legal and technical procedures, completing the full KC Mark certification process to enable compliant sales. The focus then shifted to brand and commerce activation, starting with a comprehensive Korean brand strategy encompassing tone of voice, design localisation, and audience positioning.
In effect, fully localised Naver Smart Store product pages were created, backed by a full warehousing and fulfilment procedure that ensured seamless local logistics and customer service. expand k also activated digital marketing initiatives across Instagram and Meta Ads, combining organic content and influencer collaborations with performance optimisation and monthly analytics through Looker Studio.
Results
The collaboration successfully introduced Petite Amélie to Korean consumers and established a fully operational e-commerce ecosystem. Legal certification enabled compliant trade, while marketplace activation and fulfilment infrastructure positioned the brand for scalability.
With the help of expand k's localisation and digital expertise, Petite Amélie achieved a cohesive brand identity aligned with Korean consumer sensibilities. The campaigns together drove visibility, engagement, and measurable market traction - validating local demand and providing the creative and operational foundation for future regional expansion.
