PCI Pharma Services, a leading global contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) headquartered in the US, provides end-to-end pharmaceutical packaging and supply chain solutions to more than 80 countries worldwide.
In Korea, however, the company faced challenges achieving visibility among R&D decision-makers due to a fragmented digital ecosystem and the dominance of local-language search behaviour.

To establish an effective foothold, PCI Pharma Services partnered with expand k to develop a Korean digital marketing programme that would improve discoverability, strengthen credibility, and connect the brand with key pharmaceutical stakeholders through precision-targeted campaigns.

Challenges & Objectives

Korea’s pharma and biotechnology sector operates within a tightly controlled information environment where professional engagement relies on reputation, trust, and scientific precision. Foreign CDMOs often struggle to communicate their complex value propositions through Korea’s search-centric ecosystem, which favours local language and established industry voices.

PCI Pharma Services sought to overcome this visibility gap by building a coherent local digital presence. The objectives were to identify relevant Korean-language search opportunities, establish consistent paid and organic exposure across Naver and Google, and generate qualified B2B leads from pharmaceutical and clinical R&D segments - positioning PCI as a globally trusted partner within Korea’s biopharma supply chain.

Activities

The initiative began with an extensive Korean keyword-intelligence project, securing high-value search terms across categories including pharmaceutical manufacturing, clinical trials, and packaging technology. These insights formed the foundation for structuring local ad campaigns.

expand k then managed the full launch of Naver Search Ads and Google Display Ads, localising all copy and creative materials to align with Korean user intent. Campaigns were continuously monitored for cost efficiency and relevance, all wrapped up into monthly analytics reportings through Looker Studio. This framework ensured performance optimisation and transparent feedback loops across all channels.
