Introduction
Bambu Lab, the global leader in consumer 3D printing, set out to enter the Korean market, where consumers research and buy through Naver rather than Google, and where enthusiast communities shape purchase decisions more than any ad campaign. Strong global brand recognition alone would not translate into Korean sales without a locally built marketing operation.
Bambu Lab partnered with expand k to plan and run its Korea launch end to end, covering Naver Search Ads, Naver Display Ads, community ads, Naver Blog, KakaoTalk Channel, and UGC marketing with Korean creators.
Challenges & Objectives
Korea's 3D printer market is driven by informed enthusiasts who compare products inside Naver cafes and trust peer reviews over brand messaging. Bambu Lab needed to show up credibly in these spaces while also capturing high-intent search demand, all within a launch window timed to Black Friday and the year-end promotion season.
The objectives were to increase brand presence and reach on Naver, build positive brand perception through consistent localised content, and drive product launch performance around key promotions and new product releases.
Activities
expand k built the launch on KR keyword research, developing a 496-keyword set covering brand, product, and generic 3D printer demand. Naver Search Ads went live across Brand Search, Powerlink, and Power Content placements, with Naver Display Ads following to build upper-funnel reach among maker, DIY, and tech audiences. Campaigns were timed to the Black Friday promotion, giving the brand sales momentum from its first month.
To reach Korea's maker communities directly, expand k ran community ads inside the country's largest 3D printing Naver cafes, combining banners, pinned notice posts, and member messages. The official Naver Blog and KakaoTalk Channel were set up and managed with monthly localised content, while Korean creators produced UGC review content each month, building the peer credibility that drives purchase decisions in this category.
Results
Within six months of launch, Bambu Lab's Naver Ads sustained a ROAS above 3,000%, with monthly purchases exceeding 1,000 and campaigns generating over one million impressions per month. Community ads reached more than 110,000 members across Korea's most active 3D printing cafes, placing the brand at the centre of the conversations where Korean buyers make their decisions.
expand k took Bambu Lab from market entry to a full-funnel Korean marketing operation, proving that with the right local strategy, a global consumer electronics brand can turn Korea's community-driven demand into measurable, repeatable sales.
